What items are sold at auction?

The possible merchandise at auctions varies greatly and is determined by the seller. We can make arrangements to sell almost any item that you would like to sell.

What does ‘absolute auction' mean?

In an absolute auction all items are sold ‘as is, where is’ regardless of the price achieved. In a few cases an item will have a reserve or minimum amount that must be achieved. In this case the auctioneer will announce this prior to the sale of the item.

What does the term “as is, where is” mean?

This term basically means there is no warranty. However, your auctioneer will make every effort to let you know if there is a condition issue with an item. For online auctions there will be a designated time when prospective bidders may inspect items up for sale.

May a buyer inspect auction items in person?

For online auctions there will be a designated time when prospective bidders may inspect items prior to the sale. For an in-person auction, you are welcome to browse what is up for bid. In fact, you are encouraged to inspect all merchandise before bidding. For most on site sales the preview of items begins two hours prior to the sale.

What if I bid by mistake?

For our in-person sales our auctioneers are not going to sell you an item on which you did not intend to bid. Just let us know before the final gavel. When bidding online, it is easy to cancel your bid if necessary. Again, this should be done before the item is marked ‘sold’.

Does Draper Auctions charge a buyer's premium?

Yes. We, like the majority of auction houses, charge a small buyer’s premium. This amount may be added to the purchase, becoming part of the purchase price.  For example: You bid $100 and there is an 8% buyer’s premium. Your final total would be $108.00 plus sales tax.

Do I have to pay sales tax?

If you are bidding, and are not tax exempt, you will have to pay sales tax (5.3%). Tax exempt individuals should indicate this when registering and have the proper paperwork available.

What are Draper Auctions Terms and Conditions?

These will vary depending on the type of sale. The Terms and Conditions will state important information bidders should know prior to the auction. These terms and conditions will be available well before each auction.

Are all auctions open to everyone?
